It’s time for this month’s Daring Bakers challenge! We were asked to make Easter bread; either one of the recipes provided, or the one that’s made typically in our country. I went with the latter cause I had been wanting to make this bread; I had made it a couple times at school last year, but never at home.

Hot Cross Buns {Sourdough Surprises}
Posted onHappy Easter everyone! I know I just made a post about hot cross buns, but this is the sourdough version I made for Sourdough Surprises. I wanted to make these traditional, so I used a sweet spice mix (one that I recently got, that smells sooo good). But when the time to add the raisins came, I thought, seriously, why use raisins when you can use chocolate? So chocolate it was.

I can’t believe Easter is just a few days away! It’s pretty ironic, since it falls late this year, yet I feel it has arrived so quickly. I haven’t started the eggs yet! But meanwhile, here’s another classic Easter recipe, with a bit of a twist.
Irish Soda Bread {Sourdough Surprises}
Posted onThe theme at Sourdough Surprises this month was Irish soda bread (of course). I was excited because I had made it once, and knew how good it was. Plus it was popping up on blogs everywhere so I was already craving it.
Dark German Bread
Posted onI originally made this bread to use up the leftover stout from the Salted Guinness Sauce Cheesecake, since the grocery store nearby only had full sized bottles, except for one apparently fancier small bottle that was more expensive than the full sized bottle I got (so yes, for the record, I didn’t actually use Guinness, that’s figure of speech).
