The theme for this month’s Daring Bakers challenge was surprise cakes! You know, when you cut into a cake and it has something unexpected on the inside, whether it’s a zebra pattern, a heart shape or a whole pecan pie. The shapes and patterns cakes, a la Surprise-inside cakes, are gorgeous. But I had already made this gingerbread loaf, and also a zebra cake, albeit ages ago.

Gozleme {Sourdough Surprises}
Posted onIt’s time for another Sourdough Surprises challenge! This month, we were asked to make gozleme, which is a traditional Turkish dish. It’s made with a dough (which can be made with or without yest) which is rolled out thinly, spread with some filling, and folded, to make some sort of flat parcel. The most interesting part is that they are then cooked on a griddle, so they only take a few minutes!
Lentil Stew

Today I bring you another Argentine recipe. This is possibly theĀ quintessential winter meal over here. It’s fairly simple, but very hearty and oh so good. Let me introduce you to… the lentil stew.
Daring Bakers 06-14: Cinnamon Rolls
Posted onHello everyone! As you can see, this month I’m super late for my Daring Bakers post. The end of the semester has been keeping me busy, but I couldn’t miss this post because hello, cinnamon rolls! I looove cinnamon rolls but I had only made them twice so far, so I was super excited about this challenge.
Onion Rings {Sourdough Surprises}

I’m here with another Sourdough Surprises challenge, although this one is admittedly late. We were asked to make sourdough battered fried goodies. Sounds good right??
I thought the default onions would be neat, since I had never made onion rings before. But I also threw in some apples and oreos (yeah, oreos – more on that later).
