The theme for this month’s Daring Bakers challenge was surprise cakes! You know, when you cut into a cake and it has something unexpected on the inside, whether it’s a zebra pattern, a heart shape or a whole pecan pie. The shapes and patterns cakes, a la Surprise-inside cakes, are gorgeous. But I had already made this gingerbread loaf, and also a zebra cake, albeit ages ago.
Hi guys! Had you ever heard of wacky cake? It’s also known as crazy or depression cake, and the wacky thing about it is that it’s made without eggs, milk or butter. The recipe is said to have been created during depression times, when resources where scarce; hence the lack of dairy. Of course, by today’s standards, this cake also happens to be vegan.
Did you know that today is international malbec day? I learned about it a few weeks ago. I believe it was my country’s initiative but apparently it was celebrated in many other countries, thus making it international.
I never really got into drinking wine, but dessert, I can relate to :)
