The first day of Christmas: strawberry milk pudding and a Sprinkle Bakes giveaway!

Posted on

Update: The giveaway is over! Thanks everyone for participating, I loved reading what you guys are baking this holiday season. And congrats Chloe, your book is on its way!

Happy December! I thought I’d kick off the holiday season with a little giveaway for you guys :) It’s one of the greatest dessert books out there: Sprinkle Bakes!

The blog has been one of my favorites since I found it, so I was really excited when the book came out. It’s full of creative projects, with the basic techniques and art notions necessary to pull them of, and step by step instructions and pictures. Plus, the book is just too cute! So I thought you should have it.

I was going to post one of her recipes here, but I thought I might as well make something that has been on my mind for a while, and is totally inspired by the blog: strawberry milk pudding in edible cups. Before trying her strawberry milk whoopies, I had never bought strawberry milk powder. But I found out it’s great, both for drinking and baking! And I thought it would be fun to make pudding out of it :)

I also made cups out of strawberry candy coating, which was a cute shade of pink and tasted just like the strawberry milk. This technique is also explained in the book, but basically you dip the bottom of a water balloon (filled with air) in the melted coating, then place it on parchment paper, and when it sets it turns into a beautiful cup.

The pudding recipe is straightforward, but there are a couple things you’ll want to keep in mind about the cups. First of all, make sure you use cooking spray on the balloons; otherwise they may stick to the cups. Then, if the coating is too hot, the balloons will burst. You can let it cool or spoon the coating into the balloon rather than dipping it. I also recommend assembling these just before serving, since the coating tends to sweat when refrigerated.

And now that we got that covered, here’s what you had been waiting for!

  3. I look forward to making a Buche de Noel cake. That has been a dessert I have been really desiring to make during the holidays because of how cute and appropriate the dessert it (a cake in the shape of a yule log and filled with chest nut cream :]) so hopefully it turns out well.

  4. Oh these pudding cups look so girly and cute! If my little sister saw she’d beg me to make them.
